Human Rights Inquiry in Afghanistan

Listen up Canadians. The Afghan government has had enough of the coalition's military tactics being used in its country and is convening a human rights inquiry.

A few weeks ago, President Karzai lamented the deaths of hundreds of his citizens, including the Taleban, and called on the military forces over there to be more prudent in their methods. Now, that concern has become a formal complaint.

The Human Rights Commission says that a growing number of innocent Afghan men, women and children have been caught up in coalition air strikes.

The government has ordered an inquiry in allegations that many civilians were accidentally killed in coalition air strikes in two different town over the past week.

I realize that many of my fellow Canadians support the mission in Afghanistan but we need to take an honest look at what we're really doing over there and Karzai is right to have taken this action. He's responsible for the security and lives of his countrymen.
