Monday Fun in the Alberta Legislature
Following last week's well-publicized gaffe in the legislature in which Premier Klein called the Liberal's red book on health policy "crap' and threw it back to the page who had handed it to him, Klein once again faced questions about it on Monday. When Liberal leader, Kevin Taft, reminded him of his "crap" comment, Klein shot back with a quip against Taft's manhood, saying that if Taft was not "man enough" to accept his apology, he shouldn't be sitting in the house. The Speaker cut off the exchange by reminding everyone that once an apology is issued, the house is supposed to move on. Apparently, Taft and Klein will be meeting outside after Question Period to see who the manly man really is.
Facing a pointed question by Calgary Currie Liberal MLA, Dave Taylor, about the lack of long-term funding for health care initiatives which, he concluded, meant the Conservatives didn't seem to have much confidence in being re-elected next time around (stab, stab, ouch, ouch), Health Minister Iris Evans, clearly pissed off, replied that there was no answer for such a question. So, I guess that means Taylor is right! I'll bet I know what she really wanted to say, but that kind of language isn't allowed in the legislature. Squirm, baby, squirm.
