CIA Exec Director Under Investigation

From the halls of the most corrupt and rotten administration ever, ABC news reports:

March 3, 2006 — A stunning investigation of bribery and corruption in Congress has spread to the CIA, ABC News has learned.

The CIA Inspector General has opened an investigation into the spy agency's executive director, Kyle "Dusty" Foggo, and his connections to two defense contractors accused of bribing a member of Congress and Pentagon officials.
[...]
Two former CIA officials tell ABC News that Foggo oversaw contracts involving at least one of the companies accused of paying bribes to Congressman Randall "Duke" Cunningham.

The same Randall "Duke" Cunningham who is looking at a possible 10 year sentence today for for accepting $2.4 million in bribes.

***Just in via CNN: Cunningham sentenced to 8 years, 4 months in prison. Pay attention DeLay and Abramoff - you're next.

Meanwhile, back at the completely unethical Republican ranch in DC, the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has rejected a proposal to create an independent ethics office/agency.

The only Democrat who voted against the measure was Mark Dayton of Minnesota who stated that this proposal "makes a statement [to voters] which I think is totally incorrect: that this body of 100 senators is so institutionally and individually corrupt that it cannot be trusted to police its own."

Well, Senator Dayton, the fact is that the senate is too corrupt to be trusted.

Speaking of ethics, on my side of the border, new Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper is now under investigation by our independent ethics commissioner to see if there were any shady dealings in his wooing of former Liberal David Emerson to join the new Conservative cabinet. Hah. The Conservatives won their election into a new minority government situation by railing against the Liberals who were embroiled in the infamous Adscam scandal - vowing to clean up corruption in the government. Can you say pot.kettle.black?

Corruption, corruption everywhere... No wonder people stay home on election day.
