When asked by CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Sunday's Late Edition who was responsible for not anticipating a possible civil war in Iraq, Chalabi pointed the finger right at Jerry Bremer. Blitzer went on to ask Chalabi if he thought Rumsfeld was just as responsible, but Chalabi said no.
Chalabi said of Bremer: "You should read his book. It's great fiction."
Since when was Bremer the commander in chief or the civilian commander of the troops?
In his role as head of the Coalition Provisional Authority, he reported only to the U.S. Secretary of Defense and exercised authority over Iraq's civil administration. He served in this capacity from May 11, 2003 until limited Iraqi sovereignty was restored on June 28, 2004.
So, a man who served for just over one year two years ago is responsible for the current mess in Iraq? I think not.
Ahmed Chalabi - the neocon's former darling who fed the US government bogus information to ensure they'd attack Iraq. Yes, he's surely one to be believed, isn't he?
