The Ministry of Scrubbery

I know Conservatives don't like big government but they really should consider creating a new department dedicated to what has become a major activity on behalf of their dear leader, Stpehen Harper: a Ministry of Scrubbery.

We already know that busy civil servants have been working hard to remove any reference to women's equality on the Status of Women's agency site and that the word 'innovative' in any form is a dirty word as far as the tories are concerned and must therefore be banished to the trash heap as well.

Additionally, on Tuesday, when Environment minister Rona Ambrose was faced with accusations that her department was seeking to remove references to Kyoto on the government's sites and to completely delete the climate change website, she flatly denied such behind the scenes discussions. But, following Question Period, Liberal MP Paul Szabo provided proof that numerous e-mails addressing exactly those points did exist and that the push to eliminate the site had begun as early as June, 2006. Whoops.

So, it hardly seems fair that these civil servants should have to do all of this clean up work without the central direction of a minister in charge of scrubbery. I nominate Rob Anders since we all know what a huge fan of revisionist history he is.
