The Quebec as a Nation Question

So...the Bloc Quebecois is going to present a motion on Thursday asking that Quebec be recognized as a nation but, 'it's not up to Canadians to decide if Quebec is a nation, it's up to Quebeckers'. 'We are what we are', Duceppe said. In that case, why is the BQ submitting the motion to the house of commons then?

Meanwhile, Steve said today that he recognizes Quebec as a nation within a united Canada but went on to say that if parliament gives Quebec nation status the seperatists will take that to mean that Quebec is a nation on its own.

Bill Graham? Well, he thinks it's important to show other countries (like Iraq, maybe?) that you can have sectarian divisions in a country and still be united. Then there's the squabble between Ignatieff and Dion. Dion called Ignatieff a 'troublemaker' for endorsing nationhood for Quebec, an issue that's set to come up during the Liberal convention next weekend.

Jack Layton, addressing the issue in the house, called for R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

Confused? You're not the only one...
