Kramer's Racist Blowout

So much for the right-wing meme that everybody in Hollywood is a bleeding-heart librul. Comedian Michael Richards (Seinfeld's 'Kramer') had an absolute meltdown at a comedy club on the weekend and, unlike Mel Gibson, I don't think he'll be announcing anytime soon that he's checked himself into rehab because the evil alcohol made him do it.

If you would like to view his viciousness which was originally posted at TMZ.com but haven't been able to because you use Firefox, MSNBC has posted a clip on their site that is Firefox-friendly. Caution: obviously offensive language is used.

Seinfeld, who is to appear on Letterman tonite had this to say in Richards' defence:

Seinfeld issued a statement Monday saying he was “sick over this.”

“I’m sure Michael is also sick over this horrible, horrible mistake. It is so extremely offensive. I feel terrible for all the people who have been hurt,” Seinfeld said.

He's sure, is he? Then why hasn't Richards released a statement about what happened? This is more than a 'mistake'. It's unconscionable. If you don't have racist tendencies in the first place, you don't just suddenly have a racist outburst. Richards owes everyone an apology and, more than that, he needs to take a seriously honest look at his prejudices.
