Random News & Views Roundup

- Peter Daou takes the networks who give Ann Coulter a platform to task. I believe the US needs reforms to its hate speech laws so people like Coulter can't get away with inciting death threats against people.

- Note to Larry Johnson of No Quarter: you don't post Coulteresque crap like this and expect to stay on my blog roll:

Karl is a shameless bastard. This could explain why his mother killed herself. Once she discovered what a despicable soul she had spawned she apparently saw no other way out.

I don't care how anyone feels about Karl Rove. To stoop to his level is absolutely despicable.

- You'd think Britain would have stuck with synthetic fabric for those big, ugly hats they make their guards wear but, according to The Independent, they're back to using hundreds of bears for the fashion statement. Why? The synthetic material didn't have enough 'bounce' and 'life'. Somehow, dead bearskin has life? And guess where these bearskins are coming from: Canada.

- Corporate Democrats. They name names.

- Two US soldiers are missing and one has been killed following an attack at a checkpoint in Iraq. Hopefully, the missing will be found safe and sound.

- Democracy Now takes a look at soldiers like Jeremy Hinzman (now in Canada and facing deportation) and others who have gone AWOL to avoid serving in Iraq.

- New Jersey has become the first state to take legal action against telecom companies in the illegal NSA spying scandal. The US government, of course, is hiding behind the 'national security' defense. Cowards. If they're so damn proud of their program, they should let the public know the truth.

- PNAC is toast? Makes you wonder what those neocons will be up to now. There must be a new group. There's always a new group when it comes to wealthy men with grandiose ideas of global domination.

- This is bizarre. It just goes to show you that it's never too late to change your ways.
