Conservatives Behaving Badly

Because simply being loud and obnoxious is not enough...

OTTAWA -- The opposition is complaining that two Conservative MPs who act as parliamentary secretaries to ministers made obscene arm gestures across the floor of the House of Commons.

Daniel Gourde and Pierre Poilievre made the gestures moments apart as MPs voted on a farm bill Tuesday evening.

The opposition, particularly the Bloc Quebecois, had been heckling the government during the vote.
[...]
The arm gesture involves two arms crossed at the elbow, one moving upward.

Liberal House Leader Ralph Goodale says he was incensed and that Poilievre was acting like a juvenile delinquent.

Wasn't it the Conservative party that ran on the mantra of restoring dignity to the house? I wonder what their definition of 'dignity' is. Apparently, it's not the same as most Canadians - or the majority of human beings for that matter.

My MP, Jason Kenney, when faced by questions about this incident during Wednesday's Question Period about the 'Italian salute' by Liberal leader Bill Graham said (paraphrased): well, they apologized and how about those unemployment rates, eh? And, while we're at it, why did the opposition leader vote against stricter sentences for gun crimes?

Liberal MP Marlene Jennings then corrected Kenney when she said that those involved did not apologize. They said they were 'misinterpreted' and that 'if they offended someone, they apologized'. Shorter version: screw you - we didn't do anything wrong.

You just keep dancing with the ones that brung you, Kenney. How pathetic.

Clarification: The term "Italian Salute" was not used by Bill Graham. When he spoke in French, he referred to the gesture using a French term which does not directly translate as "Italian salute". That was the fault of the translator. This was clarified following Question Period via a point of order.
