Early Opposition Reaction to the Budget

Liberal leader Bill Graham has stated that his party will not support the budget, saying that he's concerned about the "shotgun" approach to spending and the increase in taxes for the average Canadian.

NDP leader Jack Layton is planning to offer an amendment to the budget to address various concerns ie. child care, the environment and corporate tax cuts. Layton said that if the Conservatives remain inflexible, his party will not support the budget.

Gilles Duceppe, Bloc Quebecois leader, plans to support the budget because it addresses the fiscal imbalance between the feds and the provinces.

So, there you have it. With the BQ support, the budget will pass.
