Random News Roundup

Cuz there's so much news and so little me...

- It's official: according to the latest Pew Poll Bush is an "incompetent" "idiot" "liar" who is "out of touch" and his approval rating has dropped a whopping 17% since January, 2005 to where it now sits: 33%. (hat tip to Atrios)

- George Clooney vs Arianna Huffington: "Did not!" "Did too!"

- Bono acts as Tony Blair's bodyguard to stop Bob Geldof from spitting at him.
"I have seen Geldof try to bite prime ministers. I accept the rules of ultimate fighting, which are: you can't poke someone in the eye or bite them, and Bob doesn't."

The first rule of Bite Club is that you don't talk about Bite Club.

- Need some Jesus Plates?

- Boston Legal to the rescue (video). Maybe James Spader can lend some Democrats a bit of his spine.

- The Washington Post lied about "majority" public support for Bush's illegal spying program.

- Has Bush violated the Constitution yet again? Henry Waxman wants to know.

- E J Dionne asks, What Kind of Hater Are You?

- the US is monitoring 200,000 known or suspected terrorists. After my post about CENTCOM today, I suspect it's now 200,001.

- The UN has created a new Human Rights Council. Stick that in your mustache and chew on it, John Bolton.

- Tennessee Moves to Change Constitution to Eliminate Abortion Protections. The fascism continues to spread.

- Barbara Boxer and John Kerry have said they support Russ Feingold's censure resolution. Okay. That's 4 Democrats including Tom Harkin. Now, what about the rest of you?

- Condi says Iran is "the central banker of terrorism". Iran war - coming soon to a Middle east near you. Some Australians don't like Condi all that much, apparently:
"By helping coordinate the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq, Condoleezza Rice is officially responsible for the deaths of between 25,000 and 150,000 people in Iraq and growing civil unrest in that country," said Anna Samson, spokeswoman for a group called the Stop the War Coalition. "War criminals are not welcome in Australia."

Just another day in this insane world...
