Promulgating Pentagon Propaganda

Well, there just aren't enough Good News(TM) stories being carried by the MSM according to Donald Rumsfeld. So, in the spirit of focusing on flowers and candies and rainbows in Iraq, CENTCOM is trying to recruit bloggers to help them out - but they made a little mistake when they contacted the left-wing AMERICAblog.

John in DC informs us (with a handy screenshot of the e-mail he received) of just how this latest push for Rumsfeldian propaganda is now being handled. Could that possibly be the reason for Ralph Peter's latest article, "Myths of Iraq"?

All of this says one thing - the Bush administration acknowledges the power of the blogs to affect public discourse (as does their attempt to silence American bloggers via the FEC).

They know the blogs are a force to be reckoned with and the Pentagon is obviously following Wal-Mart's playbook when it comes to infiltrating the blogosphere. They should have paid attention to the fact that Wal-Mart was summarily outed. Then again, these are the same dolts who proclaimed "Mission Accomplished" about Iraq three years ago.
