Six Canadian soldiers and an Afghan interpreter were killed Wednesday in a roadside bomb attack in southern Afghanistan, military officials said.
They were killed when their armoured vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in the volatile Panjwaii district, about 20 kilometres southwest of Kandahar City, Brig.-Gen. Tim Grant told a sombre news conference.
They have not yet been identified. These deaths bring the total number of Canadians lost in the Afghanistan war to 66.
