Specter v Cheney: It's a Duel

Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) is fighting mad at Vice President Cheney for interfering in the Senate Judiciary committee's attempts to investigate the illegal NSA spying program. Specter fired off a three page letter to Cheney on Wednesday expressing his grievances because Cheney went behind his back to other members of the committee like Hatch (R-UT) to discuss matters related to subpoenas for the telecom companies involved. What, exactly, is Cheney trying to hide and who is paying him to hide it?

Specter is very concerned about possible breaches of civil liberties and the separation of powers. He told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that 'this is not personal' - that it's simply about exercising appropriate congressional oversight - something sorely lacking in DC these days.
