Dion's Dream Team

Stephane Dion named his shadow cabinet on Thursday.

Here they are:

Deputy leader: Michael Ignatieff (you all know what I think about that.)
Opposition house leader: Ralph Goodale
Transport: Joe Volpe
Industry: Scott Brison
Social Justice: Ken Dryden (perfect)
Environment: David McGuinty

More via CBC:

Deputy House leader: Lucienne Robillard
Finance: John McCallum
Foreign affairs: Ujjal Dosanjh
National defence: Denis Coderre
Immigration: Omar Alghabra
Natural resources: Mark Holland (should have been environment critic so he could wrestle with Baird on the floor of the house)
Justice: Marlene Jennings
Health: Bonnie Brown
Agriculture: Wayne Easter

(Ummm...where are all of the women?) See update below.

Creating committees on economic prosperity, social justice, the environment and foreign affairs, Mr. Dion said he has to be prepared for an election, although he's not suggesting he'll try to force one on the minority Conservative government any time soon.

Why not? Most people are predicting an election sometime this year. I'm sticking with a fall vote.

New poll numbers:

The Decima Research survey, provided to The Canadian Press, puts the Conservatives and Liberals in a statistical dead heat in national support.

The Liberals polled 33 per cent of decided and leaning voters, the Conservatives 32 per cent and the NDP 13.

The Bloc Québécois got 10 per cent and the Green party was at nine.

But when Alberta respondents are taken out of the poll, the Liberals are seven percentage points ahead of the Conservatives in the rest of the country.

Why do I live in Alberta again?

Update via the Liberals web site (.pdf file), I found more women! (And men too...)
