Random News & Views Roundup

- Blogger ate my 9/11 post just before I was finished with it, so I'll rewrite it on Monday.

- In the meantime, AP has the 9/11 aftermath - by the numbers.

- ABC made some changes to at least the first part of The Path to 9/11, but not enough to correct its factual inaccuracies.

- What kind of insanity is this?

Sept. 18, 2006 issue - Is Iraq in a civil war? The CIA has developed its own secret guideline for answering that increasingly contentious question. CIA officials offered the definition of "civil war," which remains classified, at a closed-door Capitol Hill briefing to discuss the latest grim Pentagon assessment of the conflict, according to two U.S. officials familiar with the briefing's content who asked for anonymity due to the sensitivity of the material.

The officials declined to share the CIA's precise criteria for civil war.

They can't just look it up it the dictionary like everybody else? Wankers.

- I made some cheesecake today, with a raspberry topping. (Well, that is news!)

- Weird headline of the day: No swastika mittens for NATO leaders.

- On the Iranian nuclear front:

VIENNA, Austria (AP) -- Iran is ready to consider suspending uranium enrichment for up to two months, diplomats told The Associated Press on Sunday.

What? No October surprise by Bush who wants to blast Iran to kingdom come to boost his ratings? Hmmm...
