As many people worldwide have already heard by now, a suspect named John Mark Karr has been arrested in Thailand for allegedly killing 6 year old JonBenet Ramsey in 1996. The police in Bangkok have stated that he has confessed, that it was not first degree murder but second degree because, according to this supposed confession, Ramsey's death was an 'accident'. Of course, we won't know if any of this is true until he receives a proper trial in the US.
While searching for more information about this person, I came across a post on the Usenet group alt.true.crime which links to Karr's resume detailing his extensive history of working with children. If this murder accusation rings true, one is certainly left wondering if he harmed any other children along the way as he travelled the world.
Although I blog about politics, I have long had an interest in true crime stories as well. The JonBenet Ramsey case received such extensive media coverage because it involved a little girl caught up in the kid's beauty queen network who was a member of a rich family. If only all cases of child murder received such attention.
If you have a moment, take some time to visit the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and sites like Canada's Child CyberSearch, the Missing Children's Network and the Missing Children Society of Canada, among many others, to help other children find the justice and peace they deserve.
Update: CNN has more including a video of Karr admitting that he killed her by accident.
