Random News & Views Roundup

- N Korea is reportedly seeking talks with Washington over its missile testing issues. In the meantime, the Pentagon has let it be known that it will use its missile defense system should N Korea launch an actual missile. Great. The debris had better not land on Canada...or else.

- The US house defeated an amendment attached to its $427.6 billion defense spending bill that called for the NSA to actually get warrants before they spy on people. God forbid they should actually be forced to comply with the law.

- Another Bush crony has been found guilty in the Abramoff scandal. The Republican response? Yeah, whatever...

- Canadians may remember the strange case of Matt Stopford who accused some of his soldiers of poisoning him back in 1993 in Croatia - to which some even confessed but were never charged. Stopford has settled the case with the feds out of court but it's now sealed so we'll never really know what happened. Hmm...

- It really shouldn't be news that the US Patriot Act is a threat to Canadians' security but it was nice of the privacy commissioner to include it in her new report. Will Harper use it as ammo with Bush? I doubt it.

- Hume's Ghost answers the question: Why Respond to Michelle Malkin? I say, 'because she's there'.

- The members of Booman Tribune and Daily Kos really need to stop fighting with each other. It's annoying. (Just thought I'd throw that out there).

- Bushco spent some $30 million dollars buying phone record info from online brokers last year. How can I become a broker?

- I have a stomach ache. That sucks.
